Straighten Your Hair with Your Curling Iron
Flat irons have been all the rage lately for creating sleek, straight hairstyles. But I’ve found that flat irons make my hair look…well…flat. I have thin, wavy hair that needs as much help as it can get when it comes to volume. And even though I crave straight hair, I don’t like looking like my hair is plastered to my scalp. I tried just using volumizing products, like hairsprays, shampoos and mousse, but I still couldn’t get just the look I was trying to achieve. I want my hair to look like Jennifer Connelly’s in this picture. Sleek yet full of body.
I asked my stylist and he said the best way to get this look is to use a 2inch curling iron to straighten my hair. Using a curling iron as a straightener sounded a little counterintuitive to me but I thought I would give it a try…and it worked! Since the barrel of the two inch curling iron is so large, it lets me add just a touch of volume as I work it down my hair. I just use it like I would a flat iron - take a section of hair, clamp it at the top near my scalp and then work my way down to the tip. Now I can get the hairstyle I want anytime of the week. I love my 2 inch curling iron!
